Dust to Dust

The sculpture appears intentionally mass-produced, a machine of toil, reflecting the character of its industrial surroundings. Individuals are instrumental in initiating the ‘machine’ to exhibit its true purpose. Their movements activate a sensor to trigger a waterfall of flour. The same sensor is linked to a video of historical photographic passages, which are simultaneously projected onto the descending flour’s surface. This intervention transforms the machine into ‘story teller’, offering a shadowy insight and ghostly window onto the buildings past, purpose and inhabitants.
